Swire/Oxford & Cambridge Society of Kenya Master Scholarship, 2018

The St Antony’s College, University of Oxford, in partnership with the Swire Charitable Trust and the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Kenya offers Master Scholarship on the basis of both academic merit and potential as well as financial need. The scholarship is exclusively open for the nationals of Kenya in any subject offered at St Antony’s College.

The aim of the scholarship is to strengthen the bond between the students of UK and Kenya.

The Oxford and Cambridge Society of Kenya was founded in the 1920s, and since then has represented alumni of both universities in Kenya. It has about 200 members and has long supported Kenyan students on courses in Oxford and Cambridge.

  • (c) Acceptance – On acceptance into a graduate program, the first part of the tuition fee for the program must be paid in order to reserve a space in the program.
  • (d) On acceptance into a Professional / Diploma of Advanced Studies-programs, the full Tuition fee must be paid in order to reserve a space in the program.

  • (f) The fees paid in accordance with par. 3(c) and 3(d) are non-refundable and will be applied to the tuition fees. It also activates the Student’s registration in the prospective program.
  • (g) Where a cancellation is made after the student has accepted the position and after the deadline for the student’s admission, as notified by the CCDS in the admission notification, the full application fee for the courses or modules will be charged. Course fees already paid will not be refunded.
  • (h) Should participants withdraw from a program, a course or a module or discontinue participation, no discount on the course fees will be granted, nor will any of the course fees be refunded.

amfAR HIV/AIDS Public Policy Internship and Fellowship Program 2018

The amfAR Public Policy Internship and Fellowship Programme trains interns and fellows to become effective leaders in public health by immersing them in policy writing, research and advocacy from their very first day.

Rosenfield interns and fellows are based at amfAR’s Public Policy office in Washington, D.C. They dedicate their time to public policy research and writing under the mentorship of the office’s senior leadership. amfAR’s Public Policy office is known for its considered analysis of emerging issues in AIDS policy including biomedical research, domestic and international AIDS funding, harm reduction, equity and human rights.

Successful candidates are expected to conduct original writing and research related to the domestic and global HIV/AIDS epidemic as well as advocate to members of Congress and their staff, organize meetings and conferences, and participate in community briefings.

  • Application forms and description of the innovation should be in English, French or Portuguese. While the innovations can be conducted in any language including local languages, the submissions should be translated and submitted in English, French or Portuguese;
  • Applicants are required to attach a letter of support/endorsement from an institution or an authority with knowledge of their innovation. This will serve as a testimony of how important the innovation is in addressing development challenges faced by Africans.
  • Each mandatory question on the application form MUST be answered; if not, the application will be deemed incomplete and disqualified.
  • There is no application fee and age limit, but the applicant must be in a position to defend their submission at any stage of the process.

Selection Criteria: In the overall assessment of winning applications, the winners are established with reference to:

  • The uniqueness of their innovations and superiority to similar or alternative solutions;
  • The size and nature of positive social impact that can be attributed to application of their innovation;
  • The potential of the innovation to become a commercial success or sustainable (for social innovations)

The following are the five criteria to be considered:

  1. Originality: The uniqueness of the product and its superiority in comparison with similar or alternative products in the market
  2. Marketability: The extent to which the innovation sufficiently addresses the problem it seeks to solve at a cost or model that is accessible to the target market
  3. Scalability: The extent to which the solution can be easily applied to other similar markets beyond the applicant’s immediate or local environment
  4. Social impact: The ability of the innovation to create or effect positive or desirable change within the target community and beyond
  5. Scientific/technical aspects: For tangible technical/scientific products; the extent to which the technical/scientific specifications of the innovation are grounded on established science and sufficiently address anticipated product risks.

Value of AwardThe IPA 2018 will consist of three Awards and support to all nominees which will be given following the criteria outlined above:

  • First Prize (US$100 000): The overall winner whose innovation demonstrates the best innovation with clear business potential
  • Second Prize (US$25 000): The innovator who best demonstrates a commercially-driven business innovation. Beyond the aforementioned five criteria, this Award will be carefully assessed on its marketability and commercial potential.
  • Special Prize for Social Impact (US$25 000): The innovation that demonstrates the greatest social impact.
  • 7 nominees each receive a voucher worth $5000

Lead superior in-store planning & execution across all brands / categories at best-in-class Return on Investment within P&G and externally.

Scope of impact:

All categories & brands in East Africa Selling and Marketing Organization (Excluding Ethiopia)

Responsibilities

1. Landscape Analysis

  • Complete external landscape analysis (Kenya only) to establish current best in class execution on Point Of Sale Material, Merchandising, In store trial and promotions across all channels.
  • Execute internal landscape analysis of the India, Middle East and Africa regions to collect relevant Best In Class Instore Executions for possible reapplication (both Point Of Sale Material and instore consultants)
  • Recommend relevant interventions to P&G instore execution based on internal and external landscape analysis above

2. Point of Sale Material management

  • Update current “First Moment of Truth” matrix in line with Financial Year 17/18 shopper based design guidance
  • Analyze current Financial Year 17/18 FMOT plan vs updated guidance and recommend any changes required.
  • Complete Point of Sale Material per unit cost analysis (Total EA) over the past 5 years and project FY 17/18 spends vs budget and vs Year Ago, outlining areas of possible optimization.
  • Appraise current in house design process and recommend any opportunities to drive efficiencies.
  • Implement a Point of Sale Material order tracker for the purposes of reporting on time delivery while outlining key areas of delays.
  • Institute a Point of Sale Material destruction / wastage tracker to report on the same while recommending areas to drive efficiencies.
  • Improve Point of Sale Material warehouse tracking system to give visibility of POSM inventory levels and implement reorder levels at branch level.

3. In-store Trial

  • Look to regional Best In Class markets to reapply and fully document the current best approach for agency selection, staff training and material creation for instore consultants.
  • Complete Pre and Post analysis by store for the top instore executions by brand (Kenya only) to establish the Return on Investment of those activities and document learnings.

4. Capability

  • Contribute to growing and nurturing Best In Class brand-building instore agency and perform quarterly agency evaluation and lead capability action plan.
