Postdoctoral Fellowship for International Students in Germany, 2018

Applicants are invited for Goethe-Institut Postdoctoral Fellowship to pursue research focuses on global perspectives on modern and contemporary art in the second half of the 20th century and the 21stcentury. The fellowship is designed for international emerging scholars.

The aim of the fellowship is to support promising and exceptional scholar for one academic year and shall concentrate on the research for a comprehensive exhibition project on the global art historical developments of the Post-colonial era covering the period 1955 – 1980.

The Goethe-Institut is a non-profit German cultural association operational worldwide with 159 institutes, promoting the study of the German language abroad and encouraging international cultural exchange and relations.

EASL Postgraduate Fellowship Sheila Sherlock for International Students in Europe, 2017

The European Association for the Study of the Liver awards EASL Postgraduate Fellowship is intended to support European and non-European applicants who wish to conduct research at a European centre.

The aim of the fellowship is to support the most promising newly qualified postgraduate researchers who wish to expand research fields and start developing their independent research careers.

The European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) is a European professional association for liver disease.

Scholarship Award: Scholarships, equaling up to a 10% deduction of tuition costs, are available for students based on educational excellence and financial need. Although each scholarship request will be evaluated on an individual basis, students are expected to have an above-average grade point of 4.5 (on a 5.0 scale) in order to qualify for a grant, and then to prove financial need.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for scholarship:

  • (A) Application Procedure – Applicants will receive written confirmation of their enrolments. In the case of extensive programs and specific courses, particular entry requirements can apply and enrolments will be reviewed accordingly. Requirements and selection criteria are defined in the course regulations and guidelines. Through their enrolment, applicants accept the general terms and conditions, the course regulations and the information stated in the guidelines or course description.
  • (b) Insufficient enrolment – The CCDS reserves the right to cancel programs and courses subject to insufficient enrolment. If so, the CCDS will inform all prospective participants following the closing date for enrolment.
  • (c) Acceptance – On acceptance into a graduate program, the first part of the tuition fee for the program must be paid in order to reserve a space in the program.
  • (d) On acceptance into a Professional / Diploma of Advanced Studies-programs, the full Tuition fee must be paid in order to reserve a space in the program.
  • (e) The Tuition fees of the programs are as published on the CCDS’ Website and/or notified via E-Mail by the CCDS. The Tuition fees cover the tuition fees for the courses; however do not include housing or any other related expense, unless other is specifically indicated.
  • (f) The fees paid in accordance with par. 3(c) and 3(d) are non-refundable and will be applied to the tuition fees. It also activates the Student’s registration in the prospective program.
  • (g) Where a cancellation is made after the student has accepted the position and after the deadline for the student’s admission, as notified by the CCDS in the admission notification, the full application fee for the courses or modules will be charged. Course fees already paid will not be refunded.
  • (h) Should participants withdraw from a program, a course or a module or discontinue participation, no discount on the course fees will be granted, nor will any of the course fees be refunded.

Nationality: Students from Germany, Italy, Scotland, and Romania are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.

How to Apply: In order to complete the application process for the BA, MA and Ph.D. Programs, applicants should follow the steps indicated below:

Following the submission of the online application, the applicant will receive an email from a representative of the Academy for Cultural Diplomacy outlining the next steps for the application.

Applicants who have successfully completed the first stage of their application will then need to pay the application fee of 70 Euros (Payment Options will be sent to you via email) and will be scheduled for an interview which will be conducted either via telephone or Skype. The interview will be scheduled within 1-2 weeks after the date of the successful submission of the application (candidates will be informed about the date and the time of the interview via email).

UN Climate Change Conference Volunteering Opportunities In Germany

United Nations Volunteers (UNV), in collaboration with the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement (UNFCCC), is accepting applications for volunteers to play a key role in the organisation and facilitation of the 2017 UN Climate Change Conference, COP 23, which will take place 6-17 November in Bonn, Germany.

For COP 23, UN Volunteers will be recruiting more than 650 volunteers to support a wide range of operational tasks throughout the event. Activities range from working with the City of Bonn to guiding visitors (e.g. hotel receptions, guidance to the venue, ‘Ask Me’ personnel), to supporting the conference within both venues (Bula and Bonn zones) as side events and exhibits assistants or registration desk support, working on sustainability and greening projects, as ushers, room assistants, note-takers, or ICT and information desk clerks, just to name a few.

Volunteers will take part in targeted trainings designed to provide an understanding of the issues surrounding climate change, through discussions on “Transforming our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” and the Paris Agreement, as well as information about the vision and mandate for COP 23. Task-specific training will also be organised to empower volunteers to successfully carry out their work at the event. Representatives from UNFCCC, UNV, the Federal Foreign Office (AA), the Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUB), the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the City of Bonn, and other key contributors will participate as speakers throughout the training sessions.

Educational background: Candidates with an academic or professional background related to sustainable development, international relations, law, business or public administration, environmental studies, social sciences or other specialised fields are especially encouraged to apply.

Kenya DAAD Postgraduate Training Program In Germany 2018/2019

Applications are offered for Ph.D. students for Kenya DAAD Postgraduate Training Program for the academic year 2018/2019. Only Eligible applicants whom have shown interest through application will be considered for this program

The Kenya Vision 2030 policy document recommends investment in Science, Technology & Innovation (ST&I) in priority key sectors. One such area involves capacity building in the universities through advanced training of personnel.

The programme will offer twenty-one (21) PhD vacancies to eligible academic personnel teaching in Kenyan universities (both public and private) for a duration of up to forty-five (45) months (exclusive six (6) months German language course) at a German university.
